I am originally from North Louisiana and spent my youth/teenage years at a small town called Springhill, Louisiana. After completing a degree in Architecture at Louisiana Tech University, I proceeded further to understand and practice the art of watercolor painting by studying and working with one of the most skillful and talented illustrators of North Louisiana, Jerry Nelson Haynes. Jerry Haynes provided me with insight and vision on how to capture a moment with watercolor though creative balance and contrast. I still considers Mr. Haynes as one of the greatest influences of my style and creative approach.
I left Louisiana and moved to the Dallas/ Fort Worth area and made my permanent residence here for over 40 years, After my arrival in the Dallas area, I took and attended workshops from Mr. Bud Biggs, a well-traveled, respected and talented watercolorist in North Texas. I also studied extensively and practiced using the techniques and style of Canadian watercolorist artist Zoltan Zobo. I now reside in Kaufman, Texas just outside of Dallas, and have opened an upstairs Studio/ Gallery in downtown Kaufman.
The work that I have created for over the many years can be described as art looking for a story. My body of work pieces are also eclectic in style moving from realism to abstract and at times minimalistic. Most of my illustrations start with the idea that the meaning of the work needs a connection to a relatable humanistic understanding. Most of the art medium I have been using for most of my creative art pieces has been watercolor. Over that past 5 years I have ventured in creating other pieces through oil and acrylics on canvas. Each of these pigment mediums provide something different and unique in trying to capture that idea or story. I am convinced that If the central idea and feelings of the work can be best captured through watercolor, oils, acrylics, and pastels, then that is how the painting will be accomplished
My work has been exhibited at numerous juried shows and solo exhibitions and has achieved several awards if that means anything.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
