West Texas has a way of staying with you.

There is something about the wide desert sky and endless stretch of land that feels both lonely and alive at the same time. As the day fades, gold settles across the earth while the mountains in the distance deepen into a steady blue.

This painting captures that quiet contrast.

The foreground glows with warm desert light. Sparse brush rises from dry ground, stretching toward the horizon. Then, standing firm against the sky, the blue mountain rises. Distant, yet commanding. Silent, yet present.

When I think of West Texas, I imagine a slower rhythm. A good cigar. Smooth whiskey. Sitting across from a seasoned cowboy or cowgirl who has earned every line on their face. Maybe an old timer with stories shared only after the sun drops low.

The sky moves with heavy clouds brushed in gold, as if holding onto the last light of day. Below it all, the land remains patient.
