Longhorns at Texas Night

Some evenings stay with you long after they are gone.
Behind my home in Combine, Texas, there was an open field where longhorns and other cattle grazed. As the day faded, I would watch them settle in for the evening. There was something steady about it. Something peaceful.
This painting captures that quiet Texas night.
The longhorns gather around a reflective watering hole, their strong silhouettes softened by the fading light. The sky stretches wide above them, layered with drifting clouds and the last traces of daylight. A farmhouse sits in the distance, small against the open land, reminding you how vast the Texas landscape truly is.
What makes this scene even more personal is the horizon. Look closely, and you can spot the faint outline of the Downtown Dallas skyline in the background. City life and country calm share the same view.
The contrast tells a story. Progress and tradition. Noise and stillness. Movement and rest.
“Longhorns at Texas Night” is more than a landscape. It is a memory of slowing down, watching the light change, and feeling at home in the quiet spaces between day and dark.
