Dallas in Motion

48 x 60 Acrylic on Canvas
I remember my first winter in Dallas. The light felt different, almost golden against the concrete and glass. The city did not ease into the evening. It surged.
Around 5:00 PM, downtown came alive. Workers poured out of buildings. Traffic hummed. Conversations echoed off steel and stone. I would stand there just watching, taking in the scale of it all. Towers stretched upward with confidence, as if the city were introducing itself.
Cranes hovered above the skyline like mechanical birds, shaping what Dallas would become. You could feel progress happening in real time. New buildings are rising. Old spaces are transforming. The future was not a general idea. It was under construction.
In this painting, the bold structures dominate the scene, anchored by the familiar sphere tower. Yet below them, silhouettes move across the foreground. People heading home. People heading somewhere new. Each one is part of the motion.
“Dallas in Motion” is not just about architecture. It is about energy. About arriving in a city that was growing fast and deciding to grow with it.
