Life would be simpler if we all played by the same rules.

This painting explores what happens when different systems collide, awareness and understanding of those differences need to  find harmony and growth . Chess pieces stand arranged across the board, careful and strategic. Dominoes arrived to the game and begin to mingle among the board and pieces.  Immediately they encounter frustration and the frustration leads to misunderstanding and a reluctance to adjust to a new style and rhythm. Each game makes sense on its own. Together, they create tension.

From experience, we learn that situations do not always mix well. What works in one setting may fail in another. Business, relationships, family, ambition. Each has its own rules. Expecting them to move the same way can lead to confusion.

The scene unfolds beneath a large moon that casts a steady light over desert sands and distant structures. A woman reaches outward, navigating the chaos. Nearby, a curious cat moves freely, untouched by the complexity.

The contrast is intentional. Strategy and chance. Order and unpredictability. Control and curiosity.

“Dominos Playing Chess” reminds us that not everything fits neatly together. We are all different pieces, shaped by different rules and backgrounds.  Acceptance and celebrating the differences will make us all whole and purposeful.
